Set up MCP
Connect OpenASO to Codex, Claude, VS Code, or Antigravity.
OpenASO can copy the right MCP settings for Codex, Claude, VS Code, and Antigravity.
Open the MCP settings
- Open OpenASO.
- Click MCP Server in the sidebar.
- Choose your AI client.
- Choose a connection type.
- Click Copy.
- Paste the settings into your AI client's MCP configuration.
Restart the AI client if it does not show OpenASO right away.
Choose a connection type
Use STDIO for most setups. Your AI client starts OpenASO's MCP process when it needs tools. You do not need to start a server in OpenASO.
Use HTTP when your AI client asks for a local URL. Start the MCP server in OpenASO first, then copy the URL shown in the sheet or in Settings.
Supported clients
OpenASO can copy settings for:
- Codex.
- Claude.
- VS Code.
- Antigravity.
Other MCP clients may also work if they support STDIO or local HTTP MCP connections.
HTTP port
The HTTP connection uses a local address on your Mac. You can change the port in OpenASO Settings.
Stop the MCP server before changing the port. Start it again after the port is saved.
Check the connection
After setup, ask your assistant something simple:
List my tracked OpenASO apps.If the assistant can see your apps, the connection is working.
If it does not connect
Check these items first:
- OpenASO is installed in
/Applications. - The MCP settings were pasted into the right client configuration file.
- The AI client was restarted after the settings changed.
- For HTTP, the MCP server is running in OpenASO.
- For HTTP, the client is using the same port shown in OpenASO.
