App Store metadata checker

Paste your app name, subtitle, and keyword field to check every limit and find words you are paying for twice. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

What this checks

  • Length. The app name and subtitle are limited to 30 characters each, and the keyword field to 100.
  • Repeats between fields. Apple tells developers not to repeat words from the app name or subtitle in the keyword field, so a repeat wastes space.
  • Formatting waste. Spaces after commas and stray commas use up characters.
  • Singular and plural pairs. The checker flags them because Apple considers them duplicates. This is a simple spelling check, so review the result yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How long can an App Store app name and subtitle be?

Both the app name and the subtitle can be up to 30 characters. The keyword field can be up to 100 characters.

Does repeating a word in the keyword field help?

No. Apple tells developers not to repeat words already in the app name, subtitle, or category, and treats plurals of a word you already use as duplicates. A repeat spends characters that could hold a new word.

Is my metadata sent anywhere?

No. This checker runs entirely in your browser, so unreleased app names and keywords stay on your device.
