ASO MCP Servers Compared: Which Tools Connect to AI?
Most ASO tools now offer an MCP server. Compare local and remote options, plan requirements, and what to check before connecting your AI assistant.

Short answer
Most serious ASO tools now offer an MCP server, so having one is no longer a differentiator. What separates them is where your data lives, which plan you need, and what the assistant can do. For most solo developers, the choice is between a free local option such as OpenASO and a paid hosted one with broader market data.
OpenASO publishes this comparison and is one of the products listed. Details come from vendor pages, checked November 1, 2026.
What is MCP?
The official documentation describes MCP as “an open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems” (modelcontextprotocol.io). In ASO terms, it lets an assistant call a tool to read a keyword’s real ranking, where it would otherwise have to answer from memory.
Which ASO tools offer MCP?
| Tool | Where your data lives | Access | Stores |
|---|---|---|---|
| OpenASO | Local | Free, in the app | Apple |
| Astro | Local | Beta, in the app | Apple |
| Ascope | Local | Pro plan | Apple |
| Appfigures | Vendor | See vendor | Both |
| AppTweak | Vendor | API plan, from £166/mo billed annually | Both |
| AppFollow | Vendor | Owner or Admin role | Both |
| Sensor Tower | Vendor | Add-on for qualifying customers | Both |
| Mobile Action | Vendor | API customers | Both |
| ASOMobile | Vendor | See vendor | Both |
| Sonar | Vendor | Free mode, paid from $29/mo | Both |
| ASO Atlas | Vendor | From $9/mo | See vendor |
| AsoBeast | Self-hosted | AGPL source | Both |
This field moves quickly, so confirm access before you commit. Store coverage for a few tools comes from their own pages or Sonar’s comparison, which is itself a vendor’s view.
What should you check before connecting one?
Where does the data live?
A local server such as OpenASO’s reads a database on your Mac. A web product’s server reads your data from the vendor’s systems. Neither choice controls what your AI client does next, because the assistant may send what it reads to a hosted model. Review your client’s privacy settings either way.
Can it write, or only read?
Some tools only return data, while others can make changes. OpenASO’s assistant can refresh rankings, add keywords, update notes, download reviews, and export screenshots when you ask. It cannot publish metadata to App Store Connect, so you stay in control of what ships.
Does it use live data?
An assistant is only as good as the evidence it sees. Check whether the tools return current rankings or stored snapshots, and ask the assistant to state which it used.
What will it cost once you use it?
Watch for per-seat or API add-on pricing, since MCP access may sit on a higher tier than the plan you would otherwise buy. AppTweak’s needs an API plan, for example, and Sensor Tower’s is an add-on.
Which one should you use?
If you are on a Mac and focus on iOS, start with OpenASO, because it costs nothing to try and setup takes a few minutes. If you need Google Play, or market estimates such as competitor downloads, look at the hosted options, and start with whichever one you would buy for its data anyway.

Frequently asked questions
What is an MCP server for ASO?
It is a connector that lets an AI assistant such as Claude use an ASO tool's data. The assistant can look up rankings and keywords directly, so it does not have to guess or rely on what you paste in.
Which ASO tools have an MCP server?
As of November 2026, these include OpenASO, Astro, Appfigures, AppTweak, Sensor Tower, AppFollow, Mobile Action, ASOMobile, Sonar, Ascope, ASO Atlas, and AsoBeast, though some limit access to certain plans.
Is a local MCP server more private?
The connection stays on your machine, but your AI client may still send what it reads to a hosted model. Check your client's privacy settings as well.
